Wreckers [HD]

Quiet yet intense
The movie moves at a slow and delicate pace, but for some reason the story carries you through to the end rather quickly. There were several scenes that make you almost feel the emotion of the characters. I found myself feeling frustrated, loved, conflicted etc. as I watched the actors in this movie. Benedict Cumberbatch is, of course, fantastic in this movie and I thought Claire Foy's acting was fantastic and very appropriate for the feel of the story. I'm no professional movie critic, but I do appreciate when a story exposes me to a range of circumstances I'm not totally comfortable with and helps me to empathize and even understand them.

I recommend this movie to anyone that likes independent film and modern drama.

Atmospheric Tale, Fine Ensemble Performances
I have a region-free DVD player so was able to order this Region 2 DVD from an Australian vendor. However, I had to turn up the volume on my DVD player to the max to hear the actors clearly, and even then lost some of the dialogue - I do not know what the problem is, as I have many Region 2 DVDs from the UK and have not had similar problems with those.

This is an intriguing story with some narrative uncertainties, redeemed by the excellent performances of the cast (Benedict Cumberbatch, Claire Foy, and Shaun Evans). The narrative is a familiar one that has been done before: a seemingly happily married couple (Cumberbatch and Foy) welcome into their midst the husband's sibling (Evans), who has been away for years, and his return unseals old cans of worms that upset the stability of the marriage.

David and Dawn, both schoolteachers, have returned to David's natal village in Kent to live a quiet life and try to conceive a much longed for child. Both teach...

Mr Cumberbatch at his very best.
This is a very thoughtful, atmospheric, beautifully acted movie set in an idyllic english village where things aren't quite what they seem. Benedict Cumberbatch gives a stunning performance.
